Denise “D” and Jonathan “J”

Denise is an Air Force Veteran, published author and educator for middle, high and adult education. She has taught health since 2007 and has been baking since high school. A health issue came about around 2015 limiting her mobility and quality of life brought on from stress in various areas of her life. After searching for the root cause for over 2 years, she met a chiropractor that changed her life. He told her to cut out caffeine and sugar for 30 days. At her wits end and wanting a better second half of her adult life, she did. The results were amazing. Instead of feeling moderate to severe pain walking up stairs or getting out of bed, she felt no pain during any activity she did. Her energy level skyrocketed and weight plummeted. Since then, she has been experimenting with making cookies and other bakery items that are low in sugar and carbs but taste similar to those she enjoyed previously. Since both gluten and sugar are inflammatory for her, she started experimenting with almond flour and found not only does it satisfy her sweet tooth, but she feels no pain when enjoyed in moderation along with small amounts of sugar. She desires to share these soft, chewy, circles of goodness with everyone! Camper “D” and Camper “J”

If we aren’t in the kitchen, we are usually in the woods. We bought a little A frame camper in 2022 and absolutely adore exploring new places and going on lots of adventures. Jonathan has worked as an electrical engineer designer since 1998 and now can add “cookie tester, giver, and baker” to his resume. Always having a passion to serve people, he, like Denise, wants a better option for people to enjoy a sweet treat but not wreak havoc on their health. In 2021 his cholesterol levels elevated which spurred him to start reviewing the foods he was eating. Upon learning about the many unhealthy ingredients in processed foods on the market including trans fats, he became a bit of a health nut, consciously reading ingredient lists and teaching those he comes in contact with the value of healthy eating.
